As a Partner at the firm, Doreen Dufficy defends hospitals, healthcare systems, nursing homes/long-term care facilities, physicians, and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice actions and federal civil rights actions. In addition, she also defends a variety of clients in general negligence, construction, premises liability, and motor vehicle accident matters.

Doreen has over twenty years of experience in the industry. Prior to joining BBO&C, Doreen was a Partner at a prominent firm in Manhattan specializing in medical malpractice defense, general negligence defense, and civil rights defense including municipalities. She also handled Petitions for Assisted Outpatient Treatment, treatment over objection and the Family Health Care Decisions Act, and regularly defended cases in state and federal court relating to psychiatric care and the Mental Hygiene Law. Before that, Doreen was employed as a staff attorney for a large Health Network located in Brooklyn and Queens comprised of three major non-for-profit hospitals, two nursing homes, a prominent physician’s group, and various affiliated for-profit and non-for-profit entities. She has experience in the following areas of law: medical malpractice, labor and employment, commercial litigation, general liability, risk management, and corporate compliance. Doreen rotated through both the Kings and Queens District Attorneys offices as well as litigated domestic violence and custody cases in family and community courts in the five boroughs. She also worked for a non-for-profit Elder Law Center.
