Success in Kings County

We are pleased to announce that on March 22, 2024, Jeff DeGeorges secured a defense verdict in Kings County for our client, an MLMIC-insured, Brooklyn-based Ophthalmologist. The case involved allegations that our client had improperly allowed anti-platelet therapy, prescribed by another doctor, to continue through the surgery our client performed. The defense demonstrated that there was no standard of care requiring the discontinuance of the antiplatelet agent for more than one day prior to surgery. The jury returned a unanimous defense verdict in twenty-one minutes, finding no departures from accepted standards of care. After the verdict, the jury approached Jeff on the courthouse steps and asked for a selfie. This was a fitting way to end Jeff’s first trial since joining the firm.
